An excellent post on a growing problem. Automated following systems are quickly becoming the scourge of Twitter, diluting the social and real value staggeringly.

Tools like Tweetspinner allow some control over when follows occur by means of a set of filters, but in the end the system will autmatically unfollow those that do not follow you.

Are we losing the social value of Twitter? What will be the tipping point?

I found this information to be very useful amd straight forward.
It makes alot of sense to use your real name but I also think people are very afraid of hackers these days, and are not willing to take many chances when it comes to the internet. If you look at my profile I even list my home phone number here in Las Vegas, because I think it would be great to get a call from someone on twitter who would like to just chat, and let me know what they think. I'm new to twitter and would like to know how some of you have gotten so many followers? Comment? Anytime!!

Again, another appl. without thought of making it for Macs! Arg. I'll guess i'll just have to wait for the native mac app. Think of all the sales they are losing because they don't think about the mac population.
